This process, achieved through talk therapy, can help you correct thinking errors, process trauma, and make positive changes in your life. Ketamine Infusion Therapy for Depression Ketamine works by blocking NMDA receptors in the brain. NMDA receptors play an important role in learning and memory function. Blocking these receptors prevents them from binding with glutamate molecules. This can help in lowering depression and anxiety. During a ketamine infusion, you may experience hallucinogenic effects. The real power of ketamine infusions occurs after the hallucinogenic effects subside. At this point, your brain can regrow connections between synapses that may have been damaged by depression. Within 24 hours of your first dose of medically supervised ketamine, these lost connections start to regrow. The esketamine nasal spray is a brand-name prescription medication that is prescribed for adults with the following conditions: -Treatment-resistant depression (TRD): TRD is depression that hasn’t improved even after a patient has tried two or more antidepressant medications. TRD is diagnosed only when treatment includes different classes of medication used for a reasonable amount of time without showing any improvements in moods or experiencing unsatisfactory results (such as intolerable side effects). -Major depressive disorder (MDD): MDD is defined by persistent sadness or irritability. The first treatment will begin as soon as possible after approval. -You will be scheduled for two treatment sessions each week for the first four weeks. -For the second four weeks, you will come in for one treatment session per week. -After the first eight weeks, you will come in for one treatment with as much time in-between sessions as is tolerable for your situation and based on your response to the treatment. -Each visit occurs in a private room. You will have access to noise-canceling headphones, a curated ketamine music playlist, warm blankets, eye masks, and comfortable chairs to relax while receiving Spravato. You are also welcome to bring whatever you need to feel comfortable, including one other support person. You will stay in the clinic under observation until potential side effects have passed.   Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for Adults

  What is TMS Therapy? Transcranial magnetic stimulation, or TMS, is a cutting-edge and highly effective form of brain stimulation therapy that is FDA-approved for treating major depressive disorder (MDD). TMS is also FDA-approved for treating other conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease and anxiety. During TMS treatment, magnetic pulses are passed through the nerve cells in the area of the brain that controls mood. This helps balance out communication in the brain and improves symptoms of depression. Transcranial magnetic stimulation is a non-invasive procedure recommended as a treatment option for individuals who have not seen success with antidepressant medication or other options, such as talk therapy or electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). It is a non-invasive and non-pharmacologic alternative if you don’t respond to other depression treatment options. How TMS Helps When you undergo TMS treatment, an electromagnetic coil is placed near your forehead. It sends magnetic pulses to specific areas of your brain that are connected to your ability to control your mood.
